Advanced treatment of hazardous contaminant by catalytic hydrothermal oxidation techniques

Novel technique for the oxidative destruction of hazardous  chlorinated compounds such as chlorophenol, PCB, and dioxin has been developed using catalytic hydrothermal oxidation method.

Catalytic hydrothermal oxidation
The formation of hydroxyl radicals from hydrogen peroxide via Fenton-type reaction catalyzed by Cu ions is subjected to the substantial acceleration under subcritical conditions of water around 200−300°C, resulting in the enhancement of decomposition efficiency.

Photocatalytic reduction of CO2 in the mixture of CO2 and water under sub- and supercritical conditions

It has been found that the efficiency of photocatalytic reduction of CO2 by Pt-loaded TiO2 is dramatically enhanced under sub- and supercritical conditions.
